Welcome to Compass Doula & Lactation!
I’m Candace Stewart, the owner of Compass Doula & Lactation, a private doula and breastfeeding counseling service based in University Place, Washington. I have been a Registered Nurse for 11 years with a clinical background in women’s health, fertility/IVF and pediatrics. In addition, I am a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), Fertility and Postpartum Doula and WA State Certified Birth Doula. I have a passion for women’s health, and educating and empowering new families throughout their journeys.
Outside of my career, I’ve been a military spouse of 25 years, and a mom to 2 amazing, now grown sons. I deeply understand the challenges of pregnancy and parenting while being so far from immediate family. Whether you’re welcoming your first baby or adding to your growing family, I know how important it is to have a strong support system—especially when loved ones aren’t nearby. My goal is to be that guiding presence, offering education, encouragement, and practical tools to help you feel empowered and connected with your community.
At Compass Doula & Lactation, I provide RN Consultations, Fertility Support, Birth and Postpartum Doula Services and Lactation Counseling both in-person or virtually. Whether you need fertility support, doula or lactation services, or simply reassurance along the way, I’m here to help.
Let’s work together to make your journey into parenthood one that feels supported, informed and confident.
MY APPROACH
I started Compass Doula & Lactation to bridge the gap between clinical knowledge and compassionate care. After working so intimately with new families over the years, I came to realize that there was an enormous need for better preparation for pregnancy, childbirth and early parenting.
As a nurse, I’ve always valued and respected the role of science and medicine, but I recognize that women and families are so much more than just their medical needs. True care comes from seeing the entire person, listening to their stories, understanding their values, and meeting them where they are.
This holistic perspective is at the core of my practice, ensuring that every family I work with feels seen, heard, and finds encouragement as they embark on one of life’s greatest adventures!
